http://indiahackathon.in/ Indian Technology Congress Association (ITCA) is a dedicated Association for Technologists focused on facilitating collaboration between Professionals from the industry, R&D Laboratories, and Academic Institutions. Building on the success of the previous editions of the well-received Indian Technology Congress, ITCA is organizing the AgRuTech2018 comprising of two exclusive events together. One as a Conference on the theme “Digital Transformation of Indian Agro-Ecosystem and Equitable Rural Development” and second as an Open Hackathon on “Karnataka Smart Village” during 3-4 March 2018 at the New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru. These shared events are conceptualized by the AgriTech Advisory Board (AAB), an ITCA initiative to progress technology-centric projects and programmes for Indian agriculture to enhance productivity, and identify pathways for integration of Indian agriculture with the global milieu. The conference has focused sessions on Agro-Ecosystem for Sustainable Rural Development, Fostering Inclusion for Rural Development, Digital Villages: India’s Next-Gen Powerhouse, Agriculture 4.0: Innovation for Rural Development and Going Digital for Rural India Development. This Conference will facilitate Government and policy-makers; scientists, engineers, and technologists; academicians; and non-governmental organizations share perspectives on how technologies can help promote agricultural productivity and food security at a national level; increase household income and assets; promote human and social empowerment. Methodologies to drive multi-faceted technology-driven approaches to usher in equitable rural development, overcoming stresses including land and water degradation and enhancing investments in agricultural technology and rural infrastructure would also be deliberated. In the digital era, adoption of pervasive digital technologies is anticipated to metamorphose the entire life-cycle of a conventional village system, leading to the increase in income and prosperity of all the citizens. This conference would help finalize recommendations and a road map to support Government initiatives to improve agricultural practices and enhance farmer’s income. Adjunct to this Conference, an Open Hackathon on “Karnataka Smart Village” is being conducted with focus on Agriculture, Education/Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Healthcare, Communication/ Connectivity, Energy and Transportation amongst others. This hackathon provides an ideal environment for innovation and entrepreneurship amongst the student fraternity from Agriculture engineering and related streams to develop working prototypes by addressing societal challenges. The uniqueness of this hackathon is that it fosters a culture of an interdisciplinary approach to discover and explore possibilities of using state-of-the-art tools, technologies, and products from IBM and its partners to develop working prototypes, hacks, and innovation that have potential for commercialization. The highlights of AgRuTech2018 include participation by Government and policy-makers; scientists, engineers, and technologists; academicians; and non-governmental organizations with over 1000 delegates from Academic Institutions and Universities, R&D Laboratories and Industries including Public Sector Enterprises, Corporate and MSMEs; and broaden the technology perspective through 40+ keynote & Invited talks, and engagement with over 30+ Organizations Exhibiting their innovations and products during the two-day unique event. Industries focused on agriculture, and technology-led rural development will be participating in this two-day unique event, and sharing their perspectives on promoting and propagating grass-root innovation for national transformation. We take pleasure in inviting you to the Karnataka Smart Village Hackathon and look forward to discussing technology-led societal interventions.
