Description
At NUMA, we give startups from a specific sector an opportunity to pitch in front an expert jury; this time around our focus is Water and Waste Management. Water scarcity is a formidable challenge of humankind attributing to global warmingand burgeoning population. In many developing countries, water scarcity acts as animpediment to progress. Abysmal water quality results in 5000 deaths in Indiaconsisting mostly of children and has a detrimental effect on society. In some countries(Israel, China, India…), water politics has been the chief cause of strikes and conflicts. On the other hand, floods have caused thousands of deaths and trillions of damagessince the beginning of the century and it is going worst every year since global warmingseems to increase the violence of climate events. Waste collection and rubbish disposal play a pivotal role in the global cleanliness andsustainability drive with people’s health and the conservation of resources being theresponsibility of the government. Planning the waste management and recycling therubbish produced in the country is an arduous task which involves both logisticalplanning and scientific knowledge to balance the impact on the environment andensure the cost-effectiveness of the process. To reduce the pressure on government agencies, a legion of privately-managedorganisations is also implemental in these waste management and recycling programs. In many cities, it implies that local government agencies have been left with theresponsibility for overseeing the work done by these privately held organisations. Concerned industries from this sector are as follows: 1. Water and Waste Technology Companies2. Water and Waste Service Organizations3. Recycling Companies4. Oil&Gas and Mining5. Public Sector6. Agriculture For more details contact community.blr@numa.co and mention Startup Window in the subject line.
